What is the Perfect Software for Website Design?

Learn about what a software is, how it is used in website design, and what is the perfect software for website design and development.

If you want to get into web designing, you will need to learn how to code and aside from that you also need to get to know the programs or software that will help make your job a whole lot easier. What is a software? According to Britannica.com, a software is a set of instructions that tell a computer what to do. In a software, you will find programs, procedures, and routines that a computer can read and follow. That said the perfect software that you need to find will be the one that will make website design simple and easy for you.

Nowadays, programmers or website designers can choose between two options: the classic use of HTML, CSS, or JavaScript and other computer languages or you can make use of a much modern approach which are the drag and drop editors.

If you are a beginner, I know that the modern approach is what really appeals to you. I mean, who doesn’t want to do things in a much simple way right? Even old school programmers have shifted to drag-and-drop programs.

Software Programs You Can Check Out:

1. WORDPRESS(dot)ORG

Have you heard of WordPress(dot)org? Don’t confuse it with WordPress(dot)com. WordPress(dot)org is free, open source, and a well documented website builder. It has a customizable content management system that can answer to any design that you want done.

2. Wix

One of the most popular website builders these days, WIX makes it easy for people to create a website with its drag and drop feature. What I like the most about Wix is that its user friendliness. It is easy to understand even if you have no previous experience in making your own website. It offers lots of customization tools that you can choose from.

If you are the type who wants to just choose a theme for your whole site and just make a few changes to it, then WIX offers that too. You will have more than 500 templates or themes to choose from and like I said, you can change them or customize it to your liking. You can even add social media buttons if you are making a business website.

3. DreamWeaver

Dreamweaver is a product of Adobe and if you know Adobe, you’d know that their softwares are the bomb. This software can be used for coding, editing, and helping you maintain websites that have already been published. This software allows you to code manually – the classic style. It also has automatic code completion, syntax-highlighting, and allows you to collapse and expand sections of your code. Convenient! You can make a change in your coding and you’ll be able to see your website change in accordance to it.

Please note that Dreamweaver isn’t free. There is a monthly subscription but if this software allows you to code better, then I’d say that it’s worth it right?

4. Weebly

Weebly has been around for more than 15 years and has continued to be one of the go to when it comes to website creation. Just like Wix, Weebly allows even the inexperienced to create their own website. When I say inexperienced, I mean even those who know nothing about coding. It is similar to Wix in terms of the drag and drop feature. This website is often used to create online stores.

However unlike Wix, this website only has a limited number of templates that you can choose from. The themes or templates are often in a classic design.

5. Adobe XD

Another product from Adobe… The wonders never cease! If you want to create more customizations for your website, you may want to check this out. This is a vector based tool that supports animation as well. You will be able to open and edit files using Sketch (a popular tool that is being used by a lot of programmers). Don’t get confused, you don’t use Adobe XD as your main software but more like an add-on to make your website more you.

Please note that this isn’t for free as well. You will need to pay a monthly fee.

6. Bootstrap

This website has slowly but surely climbed up as one of the most popular softwares when it comes to making websites, especially websites that are often opened using a mobile phone. In Bootstrap, you will be able to enjoy a grid system, responsive breakpoints, and a library of components or add ons that will make your journey to website creation a breeze.

You will need to download Bootstrap to your computer to get starts.

7. Squarespace

This is also a more modern approach to website creation but unlike WordPress and Wix, there is no free usage of Squarespace. You need to pay a monthly plan to access their themes and customizations. It is also a great way to create an online store.
